Fabian Lim’s Advanced SEO Workshop

I will be travelling to KL to attend Fabian Lim’s 5 days Advanced SEO Workshop from 18 July to 22 July. This is the first ever class in Malaysia. The previous classes were all held in Singapore.

Due to the nature of the class, Fabian said we have to sign NDAs…so I suppose I can’t reveal much of what I learn here. But fret not…once I’m certified, my SEO services is available to all!

I’m really looking forward to this class to help propel my SEO skills to the next level.

SEO Is Easy If You Know How To Do It

If you have been to my Facebook, you would have seen that at one time I was helping a friend to SEO his website.

His website was indexed for the wrong reason. It was not indexed for the keywords that his potential clients are looking for. This is a common mistake that people always try to promote their company on the internet.

Are buyers looking for your company or looking for the product or services you are offering? Think about it, as a home business owner or small business owner, how is a potential client in Newcastle, England know what is your company’s name?

We are not coca-cola, IBM or MacDonalds where there is heavy marketing to promote the brand worldwide. We are internet marketers who provide credible solution to people’s problems. Yes you have to brand yourself as an expert in your field before people believe your product or services DO work before they buy it. But will you reach the recognition of Coca-Cola? Be realistic and choose the battle that you can win.

I have spent about 4 full days SEO-ing my friend’s webpage. I took about 2 days to research on keywords and researching the competitors, trying to understand the industry. This is a small niche so the keywords are pretty easy to find.

The next 2 days I was revamping the whole website. The original website has full flash with no content. So I learned from my teacher, Fabian Lim that its a no no.

Using wordpress, I’ve changed some php and html coding to make the wordpress theme look like a fully SEO mini-website. Actually it is still going through cosmetic changes to make it more eye pleasing. However, content wise, it is complete.

After making sure the content is written to our satisfaction, we went on live last week. Admittedly I budgeted about 1 month to get it listed on Google’s search engine result page (SERP) ranking top 10. Last night I checked and it was listed on position 1 and 2 of Google’s serp! It was ranked number 1 and 2 for all the keywords except for 1 set we are ranked 3nd and 4rd. I honestly didn’t expect it to climb the ranking so fast.

What is more exciting is, people are starting to email for quotations!

We were also ambitious to try to rank for the whole Malaysia. As at last night, it was ranked number 17, on the 2nd page.

Since this is a small niche, we don’t need to put in all the advanced SEO techniques. All you need is to do is some basic SEO steps such as changing your page title, meta tags as well as your headers. You must also write original and relevant content which include some of your keywords in the main body and sub-headers. Put your keywords into these places and let your page get indexed by Google. Graphics and flash video do not get you ranked because it has no content. You can use the video but sparingly. Remember, Google is a search engine for giving users relevant content for their searches. So you need to give content relevant to your keywords you are aiming to dominate. People buy because of the information you have, not because they are entertained.

These basic skills are good enough for anyone to dominate their long tail niches and earn money from there. Fabian Lim’s World Internet Academy

This weekend I’m starting my training to be a certified mentor for Fabian Lim’s World Internet Academy. World Internet Academy is an multilingual internet marketing training portal which teaches people how to create and sustain online business.

World Internet Academy training will cover 6 modules namely Market Research, Website Creation, Traffic Generation, Website Conversion, Create Affiliate Programs & Joint Ventures, and Automation & Tracking. Any student armed with this training will have the know-how to start a home based business on the internet successfully.

Being a certified mentor for this program I’ll be able to assist students both online and offline to progress on their internet marketing business.

Fabian Lim’s Internet Marketing Bootcamp

I have just completed Fabian Lim’s Internet Marketing Bootcamp over the weekend.

In the bootcamp, I met new friends who are starting out in internet marketing and new faces from Success Resources. I also got to know the mentors and senior mentors who helped out participants on the technical side. Interestingly, the mentors were from the October ‘07 batch. These mentors had put to practice what Fabian had taught and had achieve success in these few months.

The bootcamp is good for people who want to know what is internet marketing all about and how to start an online business. Its good that Fabian dispel many thoughts that it is fast and easy for newbies to make money online. He also emphasize that Internet Marketing is all about marketing not IT. Many participants, especially the elderly, thought that they need to have good computing skills which is not true. It’s all about marketing skills!

The bootcamp has lots of content and 3 days wasn’t really enough to go through everything. Fabian could only touch on the important stuff and leave the rest for us to study at home. The 4th day which is next month will be a follow up on our progress.

Fabian has also launched his World Internet Academy site to help people who would like to learn online. Membership to his online course is only a fraction of the live seminar, only USD20 per month. This makes learning the basics of internet marketing affordable to everyone. I did enjoy learning from Fabian as he is well articulate and some times dramatic on stage. I suppose this is necessary especially when you are dealing with dry topics on technicalities. Now with new found skills in Pay Per Click and Search Engine Optimization, I have more avenues of generating more traffic to help me grow my profits online!
