Blogging In Malaysia

April 29, 2008 | 1 Comment

Ever since the conclusion of Malaysia’s 12th General Election, a lot of attention was placed on bloggers. The government partly blamed the bloggers for disseminating incorrect information which led to their reduced majority. Many less informed, misinformed or ignorant politicians, group all bloggers together, as if all bloggers are the same! Some even have the audacity to call for censor or banning blog sites. Some times you really wonder whether you should laugh or not.

No wonder the politicians lost ground. If they have tried to pay attention and understand what do bloggers really do, then they would not make statements that reflect their ignorance. Mind you, public statements define your thoughts and view point. So if it doesn’t make sense, you will lose respect and credibility because people can see that you don’t understand what you are talking about.

Bloggers blog about their happiness, frustrations, their ups and downs and also their passion. Some people blog to share their view point. Some blog to share their experience in certain matters such as making money online etc. One thing is certain though, each post is a potential debatable topic, depending on your readers.

After the election, many politicians started to blog. Of course its better to be late than never but do they really understand what’s a blog? Blogging can be used as a good political tool but are they capable of share issues HONESTLY with the people? Can they take criticism hurled at their face? Or will it be censored because the feedback was deemed too sensitive?

Blog readers are only interested in content and when the publisher is honest and sincere in their posts and contribution. If the post is cold and politically right, then the blog will lose its readers very fast because they might as well read the newspaper. What readers are interested are your thoughts, your experience and your feels towards something. If politicians have to be politically right and censor their posts and reader’s comments frequently, then I’m sure its going to fail.

Political blogs are filled with no holds barred discussion and debate on issues relating to the country. So if the politicians have to tow the party’s line and are not engaged in discussions, then its better not to start one. An interesting example, Lim Kit Siang made a public statement for Perak’s DAP to boycott the swearing in ceremony of the state chief minister. Immediately, his blog received angry responds from his loyal readers about his foolish statement. These comments were not deleted or censored.

Can Barisan’s politician handle such criticism and openly discuss issues pertaining to the country? Or will they pull out their Ace and claim that its sensitive issue, not subject to discussion. Ha ha…its like an ostrich hiding its head in the sand when they sense danger.

Good luck to the politicians in the dangerous jungle of the world wide web.

Freely Graduates Gathering In KL

April 16, 2008 | 3 Comments

Last night I attended Dr Clemen’s 1st graduates gathering for 2008. Since last year’s GG in October, I was looking forward to his next GG to update us on the strategies to use to trade options in a recession.

It was really great Dr Clemen held his quarterly gathering for his graduates. We can get constant updates and there is so much that he is doing for his students as well as for the people who would like to learn options trading.

I was encouraged at what was presented last night. Without proper knowledge, people get distracted and get discouraged easily. I think many graduates have given up on options trading and I think its a waste since the Freely method is a good balance of risk and return which favours the investor. I suppose graduates lost hope when they made a few losses in the past few months. Then they focus on the losses, get discouraged and fear steps in. Finally, they succumb to their fear and give up trading.

One thing I learn from T Harv Eker is that fear is a state of mind, a build-in fail safe mechanism that kicks in whenever we have to make a decision. This fail safe mechanism is there to make sure we are no discomforted. Our mind is always telling us to do things the easy and comfortable way, regardless whether it is good or bad for us.

Whether it is online or offline business, options trading or any other venturers, we need to stretch our comfort zone and ignore the fear. We don’t blindly ignore the fear and do siliy stuff, but make sure that we finish the race despite of fear of losing. This is how people become successful. This is how successful people create their own breakthrough and get rich. They don’t get rich by doing things that are easy and comfortable.

I’m glad that I attended the GG consistently and keep learning more and more about options trading. If we don’t keep learning and progressing, we’ll be left behind in the dust as this world progress more and more rapidly in a technological age.

Does Facebook Facilitate Stalkers?

April 11, 2008 | Leave a Comment

Almost everyone is on Facebook nowadays. When we converse with our friends, we used to ask if they got a blog so that everyone can keep each other updated. With the advent of online social networking, the question now is, “Are you on Facebook?”

Don’t get me wrong but I’m into Facebook like any other regular Joe. With online social networking, a whole new way of interaction opens up. We can share almost everything with anyone online. As internet marketers, networking = potential customers, period. However, the lighter side is we can catch up with friends and make new ones while we are online doing our business.

So is online social networking really good? We have all heard the good things that it brings eg, finding long lost school mates and friends, catching up with friends and making new friends etc. What about the bad stuff? Don’t we need to know both sides before we decides?

Interestingly, the videos below shows the dark side of Facebook and Google Earth. It helps stalkers to keep tabs of their victims. So is online social networking really good? With these new perspective, you decide…

Fabian Lim’s Internet Marketing Bootcamp

April 2, 2008 | 2 Comments

I have just completed Fabian Lim’s Internet Marketing Bootcamp over the weekend.

Fabian Lim
Fabian Lim, the Man & I

In the bootcamp, I met new friends who are starting out in internet marketing and new faces from Success Resources. I also got to know the mentors and senior mentors who helped out participants on the technical side. Interestingly, the mentors were from the October ‘07 batch. These mentors had put to practice what Fabian had taught and had achieve success in these few months.

The bootcamp is good for people who want to know what is internet marketing all about and how to start an online business. Its good that Fabian dispel many thoughts that it is fast and easy for newbies to make money online. He also emphasize that Internet Marketing is all about marketing not IT. Many participants, especially the elderly, thought that they need to have good computing skills which is not true. It’s all about marketing skills!

The bootcamp has lots of content and 3 days wasn’t really enough to go through everything. Fabian could only touch on the important stuff and leave the rest for us to study at home. The 4th day which is next month will be a follow up on our progress.

Fabian has also launched his World Internet Academy site to help people who would like to learn online. Membership to his online course is only a fraction of the live seminar, only USD20 per month. This makes learning the basics of internet marketing affordable to everyone. Each month there will be new content and lessons to teach his students from the past seminars as well as students from World Internet Academy. Those who are interested to understand more can click here to visit World Internet Academy.

I did enjoy learning from Fabian as he is well articulate and some times dramatic on stage. I suppose this is necessary especially when you are dealing with dry topics on technicalities. Now with new found skills in Pay Per Click and Search Engine Optimization, I have more avenues of generating more traffic to help me grow my profits online!
