Secrets of the Millionaire Mind (Con’t)

November 22, 2007 | Leave a Comment

Just woke up getting ready to go to the airport. Yup today I’m flying off to Singapore for T Harv Eker’s Millionare Mindset seminar.  My friends and I are so excited about it.  I suppose I won’t be able to update my blog until I come back a week later.  Will be taking a few days off and do some sight seeing since I haven’t been to Singapore in ages.

Will take lots of photos and update ya?

Importance of Gratitude

November 21, 2007 | 1 Comment

This morning I was having morning tea by myself around 1030am. While I slowly took my time chewing and savouring the Roti Sambal Udang (aka chili prawn paste french toast), I was also observing my surrounding tables. No I’m not sitting at those fancy multinational coffee franchises, just a humble coffeshop. I noticed that those folks sitting around me were retirees having their morning tea too. I suppose the older folks had an early breakfast and are hungry like me now. But the point is…where are my peers? There wasn’t anyone around my age group taking their morning tea.

As I slowly sip my hot milo, I realised that having morning tea at 10-ish is a luxury itself. As this thought sink deeper, I noted that everyone, including me, in our daily hustle and bustle take everything for granted.

We have our goals and expectations, and we work mindlessly hard towards it. In the process we forgot why we set our goals in the first place. We don’t stop and take stock of what we already have and appreciate what we’ve accomplished.

Assessing my life, I realised that I have precious friends who helped to enrich my life. Friends who are like minded in our aspirations. Friends who helped me along the way. They are treasures on my journey…

Good Nasi Lemak In Penang?

November 19, 2007 | 3 Comments

Last Friday The Star reported a good Nasi Lemak outlet “Nasi Lemak Shop” on Chow Thye Road. Well my foodie friends and I tried it this afternoon for lunch.

The Star Article

The outlet is bare but clean. I suppose the boss wanted to maximise the space available and though there were quite a few tables, it wasn’t cramped. But more importantly, we’re here for the food!

We ordered the Nasi Lemak with assam fish and chicken rendang, chicken porridge and a small curry fish head for sharing.

They served the 4 sets of Nasi Lemak first and when they placed the plates on our table, well, the fragrance from the rice was what hit us. You can smell the yummy coconut rice beckoning you to eat it. Yeah the rice was practically shouting “eat me! eat me!“. Before we can eat, we almost made up our minds, “This is Good!“. Well the first spoonful of rice confirms it. There is generous helping in coconut in the rice thus the “Nasi Lemak” and you can almost feel the creaminess in each spoon! But be warned, so much coconut will have a side effect of having “wind” which mean you’ll fart like mad later!

The assam fish set had a piece of fried chicken and they might as well leave out the chicken. Its more like a bite size fried chicken. The assam fish was good as the fish is well marinated with assam. But between the chicken rendang and assam fish, we all agree that the chicken rendang taste better than the Assam fish.

The curry fish was served about 25 minutes after our order. To be fair, the guy said it’ll take 20 minutes to prepare it. Strange…isn’t curry fish pre-cooked before lunch?

Well, the curry fish head was a disappointment. When they served it, the fish head was half cooked. They had to further cook it. Well when we really tried it, the gravy was slightly thicker than the usual Indian curry fish gravy. But the gravy tasted “hollow” as if something was missing.

When we finally tasted the fish head, well…it wasn’t really mind blowing like the rice. The fish meat didn’t absorb enough of the curry gravy. The tomato slices were still raw and crispy, added into the gravy as if it was a last minute thought. Later a quick check with the boss, he said they use pressure cooker to cook the fish, so usually the head gets cooked but…well no wonder the gravy tasted “hollow”. Looks like the traditional way of cooking is better than the pressure cooker.

The porridge was the last disappointment. It was the last dish to arrive, about 45 minutes after we ordered. Mind you, the outlet was only about half filled when we ordered. Again nothing to shout about.

One last thing, the servings for the Nasi Lemak is only good for breakfast. Those of you going for lunch, should order extra rice, yum yum more carbo ha ha. Even the extra rice is so small. I think the 2 portion only make one normal bowl of rice. But for the ladies, it was just nice. Well, if Suan Bee can finish the rice by herself, then I’m sure its less than half a bowl!

I think the best dish there is the Nasi Lemak with chicken rendang, oh and order the top up dessert of white fungus too. The fungus is nice. For the porridge and curry fish head, there are better places for it and that is another story heh heh…

Secrets of the Millionaire Mind

November 18, 2007 | 1 Comment

I’ve read the book by T Harv Eker’s Secrets of the Millionaire Mind twice already. It really is a good book which helps to explain why are we broke and why some people can be millionaires so easily. He explains that we always fulfill our own personal money blue print. This blue print is in our sub conscious mind and we won’t be able to consciously make money if our blue print is not set for getting rich.

This is not a law of attraction thingy but more specifically on how our sub-conscious mind dictates our money making abilities. So, in order to be a millionare, our mind’s money blue print must be set to that level. If we don’t, then we’ll always sabotage our own conscious effort to make money and get rich.

Harv have an effective and systematic way of setting our money blue print to achieve our true potential. By reading the book, we can slowly apply his method and change our mindset on being broke to being a money magnet. Click at the picture below to get the e-book at half the price of the printed version. The other links are to get the printed copy.

He is coming to Singapore this weekend for a seminar on the same topics. I bet the seminar will accelerate our thinking much faster than reading the book. I can’t wait to attend the workshop and set my mindset to a millionaire’s.

Internet Marketing - My First Affiliate Product

November 15, 2007 | 1 Comment

I’ve just completed setting up my first affiliate product. The product is an ebook called Google Snatch written by Latif. This book teaches people how to generate traffic to their website for free. Yup, don’t need to advertise on adwords or any other pay per click to drive traffic to your site. Just learn from Latif and you are set to repeat the same process again and again for all your sites. This is also a tried and proven method which will not be outdated or lose its efficiency with time, hence it’s “evergreen”.

I’ve just bought it and am reading it to learn more from him. I’ll definitely use his methods to drive traffic to my site to buy the ebook. I’ll report on this venture in a week time…May the Force be with me! Oh those who would like to take a look please go to mysuperbstuff.com.

Long Lost Ox-tail Soup

November 14, 2007 | 2 Comments

Last night I had the best ox-tail soup in ages. Actually I lost hope of find this chef for a long time. The chef had his stall opened in Kek Seng on Burmah Road opposite the Seventh Day Adventist Church. However, 7 or 8 years ago, Kek Seng undergone renovation and the chef moved.

My friends and I searched high and low but to our dismay, we can’t find him anymore.

Thanks to Wai Ling, she told us during the coaching class that the chef has moved to the coffeeshop at the corner of Jones Road and Burmah Road. Yippee! I went there in less than a week after she told me.

His standard is still there man! My first spoonful of soup in my mouth…ahhh…pure oral sensory bliss…this guy’s soup, or rather broth, is really thick, tasty and concentrated with the beef essence. The soup viscosity is really thick thus it doesn’t feel diluted when you slurp it up. The generous serving of spring onions goes really well with the spices in the soup. Yum yum, thinking of it now makes me hungry for more!

My next trip there I’ll sure to bring my camera to take a shot of it and share it with you guys. Oh i didn’t even mention the crumbed fish and chips ya? Maybe next time then.

Basic Internet Skill - Autodirect

November 11, 2007 | 2 Comments

Yay today I manage to learn how to autodirect from one webpage to another. I don’t have my own webpage for my domain, so instead of designing a dedicated webpage, I’ve redirected the main index of my domain to my blog page about myself. This way visitors can get to know me when they visit my domain at tanhailiang.com.

There are so many things to do for internet marketing and if I don’t keep my eye on the clock, I’ll probably stay online till I drop! Gotta take a break once a while man or I may spoil my eyes staring at the screen for so long and get repetitive injuries ha ha…

Basic Internet Skill Coaching

November 7, 2007 | 3 Comments

Wow this is the 2nd day of class and thank God I have attended the class…so many basic stuff to get familiarised. I don’t think I can learn so many things by myself at so short a time. Good to avoid the technical pitfalls and save time! This class should be made compulsory to anyone who would like to start internet marketing.

Tea break

Finally we finished our 2 day class!

After the class was over, Roger, the co-founder of Autopilot shared with us about Success University. Its a great online education center started up by Matt Morris. Roger stressed that on going education is the way forward. I also agree with him because many successful people always emphasize that life is a journey of learning…T. Harv Eker’s wealth file #17 says that rich people constantly learn and grow, poor people think they already know.

Eric Hoffer, an author and philosopher said “The learners shall inherit the earth while the learned will be beautifully equipped to live in a world that no longer exist”. Inspirational words…

Asia Internet Wealth-Building Bootcamp

November 6, 2007 | Leave a Comment

I’ve just got back from Derek Gehl’s weekend bootcamp. It was really intense but rewarding event. Derek was clear in his explanations as well as his presentation flow was good. It really helped me to understand the concept of internet marketing. Internet marketing is a new business that I’m getting in and its good to learn from a proven expert. Among all the experts whose seminar I had attended, Derek was the only one who was down to earth and lowered everyone’s expectations, ie, we can’t earn 1 million within a year. Wow! I was blown away, this guy is actually telling us beginners that we need to take time to build the business. But as the business grows, it can be automated and replicated to grow the recurring profits, hence achieving our millions of dollars dream ha ha.

Well, after attending the Derek’s bootcamp, I’m totally taken in to start my internet marketing business…gotta start doing research.

Tomorrow my coaching class for basic internet marketing skill with Sern Yi will start. I can’t wait for the class to start man. Time to get my hands dirty and work on it, yeah!

Options Trading Championship 2007 Cont’d

November 1, 2007 | 3 Comments

The OTC was an exciting event. I felt great being a participant of an internationally recognised event which was run concurrently in Singapore and Indonesia as well. The M’sian venue was in Global Business Park, SS19. First impression of the building was “huh?? This kind of place??! Sure or not?“. The building is right in middle of an industrial zone and looks run down.

When we entered the building, other participants were green with envy after seeing our team t-shirts. Friends from success Resources were also impressed with our effort. Yeah we really showed them that we are out to win the prize.

Lobby

Despite of the drab looking building, the inside of the function room is a world of difference. We were relieved that the deco and finishing was nice and trading stations were clean, spacious and neatly laid out. Even the lighting, sound and internet speed were impressive. The OTC had 60 participants in M’sia, approx 90 in Indonesia and approx 160 in S’pore. In M’sia we had 15 teams.

Day 1

On the 1st day our team had fun and laughter while other teams were busy doing last minute analysis. We were well prepared as we had strategised our plan of attack way before the OTC. It now boils down to timing our entry points.

Dinner

We’re having late dinner after the opening bell while others are busy analysing

Teh tarik

Having teh tark break relaxing…who said trading is stressful? No worries ha ha!

Day 2

Based on our team’s trading strategy, 2 of our team members were in the top 20 individuals in the OTC who has the highest increase in portfolio, C Hun was no. 8 and I’m 17. On overall team effort, our team “Fun Gappers” was the 4th best in the OTC.

Day 3
Day 2 trading results was announced on the 3rd day before the opening of Day 3 trading hours. On Day 2’s results, another one of our team member, Wai Ling, was in the top 10 individuals in the OTC. Several bellwether companies missed their earnings and the entire market was down big time. So even when Richard announced the Day 2 results, there were mixed feelings as Day 3 is going to be very very tough…Before the opening bell, everyone was in a sombre mood, those who had positions were preparing for the worse, some could not believe the crash was so bad. Some lost everything…it took everyone around 2 hours to accept the market crash and the losses incurred. Those more experienced traders took it in their stride much earlier.

On Day 3, we talked to many other traders and made some friends here and there. It was interesting listening to how they traded and analyse their companies. After the closing bell, we felt a bit sad OTC has ended as we were having lots of fun and enjoyed ourselves trading together and making friends here and there.
