Something About Hai Liang
My name is Hai Liang.
I’m working in Penang and together with 3 other partners, we founded our own consultancy firm. Our main function is finance related. I have 2 other new ventures which is options trading and internet marketing. Both of which are picking up in Malaysia and the wider Asian region. Why am I diversifying? Well, its part of my plan to create and build various passive income sources and ultimately achieve financial freedom. Yay I hope to achieve financial independence in 3 years time!
I have 2 younger sisters and 1 brother who is the youngest. That makes me the eldest. The elder of the 2 sisters has her own law firm in Kuala Lumpur. The younger sister is working on her Masters on Pharmacology in University of Western Australia. My youngest sibling is my brother who is completing his Bachelor in Business.
I graduated from University of Waikato, New zealand in 1995. After I have graduated, I started work as an audit assistant and worked my butt to senior 4. After I had passed my Chartered Accountant exams, I quit from audit and was FREE! You wouldn’t believe the sense of freedom you get after being stuck in something you don’t like for so long. Yup my CA qualification was my ticket to freedom and REAL money.
After being in audit, my next job was an officer in a Merchant Bank…in other words, a glorified clerk. Oh man, I thought I was moving up but turns out that it was from the pot into the fire. The pay was much better but the workload was damn shitty. From the outside, it sounds prestigious but the actual work…you are just a clerk and a sales man. A colleague in the bank aptly said that we are “prostituting out brains” ha ha well put. Well I prostitute my brains till I was assistant manager and left to set up my own consulting firm with my other colleagues in the same dept.
Now I have more time since I don’t have to achieve the bank’s budget but still I need to eat man. But at least I now have more control of my time.
I have many interests but I don’t have enough time to persue each of it. But among all, I love food! In order to stay fit, I go to gym 3 times a week to burn those calories or else I can’t indulge in eating. Penang has a lot good eating places and good food, mainly hawkers’ food. Finding new eating places is also part of my group of friends’ passion. Sometimes people talk as if they know what’s best in Penang, but ignore them.
I’ll post my adventures often so everyone will know what’s eating me. Please please also leave me comments so I know I’m not talking to the wall.
